This young black bear was photographed in Grand Teton National Park during autumn, when bears spend much of the day feeding to prepare for the winter months ahead. Berries become an important food source during this time, and cubs move quietly through the undergrowth searching for them.
We came across this bear on our first day in the park. It was slowly foraging through the brush, stopping often to pick berries before moving a few steps further into the forest floor. For a moment it paused and looked up, then continued feeding and disappeared back into the trees.
