Searching for Pumas in Patagonia[ What we do ]After years of working in the field and building our own experience in wildlife and outdoor photography, we created The Wildist to bring others into that environment with us. Our expeditions and workshops are for photographers who want to spend real time outside, working in changing light, unpredictable conditions, and alongside wildlife that moves on its own terms.
In the field, we guide small groups through daily shoots and practical instruction focused on outdoor technique, composition, fieldcraft, and visual storytelling. You’ll refine how you approach your camera settings, positioning, timing, and decision-making while everything is unfolding in front of you. The goal is steady improvement through time outside, and shared experience.
THE EXPEDITIONS
Patagonia Winter
Searching for Pumas
Torres del Paine, Chile
July 2026 & 2027
(5 Full Days in the Field)
Join us in winter Patagonia, where we move through open valleys and snow-covered ridgelines in search of wild pumas. You’ll spend your days tracking fresh prints, watching the landscape with patience, and photographing these elusive cats in the soft winter light.
In Torres del Paine, the puma is the landscape's great predator: a silent, strategic, and extremely intelligent hunter, capable of moving through snow, rock, and wind as if winter were its natural element. Unlike other big cats, the puma is usually solitary, roaming vast territories. Its routine revolves around the perfect balance of exploring, observing, and hunting, with a calmness that impresses even before you see it.
Grand Teton & Yellowstone
Searching for Bears & Moose
November 2026 & 2027
(6 Full Days in the Field)
Join us in Yellowstone and Grand Teton during the depth of fall, when the air turns crisp and wildlife is constantly on the move. We’ll spend our days searching for bears in the forest meadows, and photographing moose in quiet backwaters.
Expect early mornings, warm drinks between long stretches in the field, and a shared focus on thoughtful, ethical wildlife photography.

Expedition Scouting
Field Journeys
Global Destinations
2026 - 2027
Scouting Journeys are a chance to explore somewhere new together. These are smaller, more flexible trips into places we haven’t fully mapped yet, often inspired by local suggestions, seasonal wildlife movement, or simple curiosity.
They’re not designed to feel polished or predictable. The focus is on discovery. On spending time outdoors without rushing, learning a new landscape as it reveals itself, and approaching wildlife photography with the same patience and respect that defines everything we do.
The goal is straightforward: share the experience, share the costs, and spend meaningful time in nature with locals who care deeply about being out there. Not every journey needs to be a full expedition. Sometimes it’s simply about going, and letting the place guide the days.
A few destinations are already on the horizon, places I’ve been eager to explore and would love to share with others who feel that same pull. Scouting Journeys are an open invitation into the unknown, and often, the beginning of something larger.
We are dedicated to reshaping the narrative of wildlife photography through precision-driven adventures and experience design.
Our group expeditions are carefully planned and supported so you can focus on being in the field. The destinations are chosen for the wildlife they hold and the time we get to spend there.
Behind THE WILDIST
Fer Richaud
Fer was born and raised in Mexico, with a deep connection to the outdoors that long preceded photography. He came to the craft later than most, but from the beginning, it was clear where his focus would remain: wildlife.
Cold environments, open landscapes, and long hours spent outside, with no guarantee of what might happen, shaped the way he interacts with nature. What began as a focus on getting the photograph right gradually shifted toward understanding behavior, learning from it, and working with the conditions each moment presents.
Through The Wildist, Fer brings that approach into a shared space. His work centers on time in the field, steady observation, and creating opportunities for others to witness wildlife firsthand.
